Open to all club members under 19 years: Training sessions are led by RYA qualified Instructors with DBS/CRB clearance and full safety boat cover is provided. Email links are available in the Members Area to book Training Courses.

Youth Squad

• Must be able to sail a controlled triangular course.
• Use your own boat or borrow a club dinghy (normally a Topper, Hartley Alpha or Pico).
• Assessed against the skills required by the RYA for Levels 1 and 2.
• For those that are gaining confidence and competence, we hope to be able to offer more. individual training in the basics of racing which will help children enjoy the Friday evening race sessions.

Activities
Buccaneers and Youth meet fortnightly on Saturday afternoons from late April until mid-September. Saturdays are about making friends and having a good time whilst also learning what fun you can have on the water by enhancing your skills and confidence. You can progress as slowly or as quickly as you want and there is no pressure to do anything you do not want to do.

Friday evenings – racing for those able to sail a controlled triangular course.

Winter months

• Hallowe’en Party
• Bonfire Night – a whole club event. Bring one big firework for each family.

• Christmas Party.
• Swimming Sessions in local pool (we hire the whole pool).
• Presentation Evening – the highlight of the year, held in the clubhouse, where trophies and certificates are given for those taking part on Saturdays, and for those who race on Fridays.

So do come and join in ... even if your parents don’t sail, they can learn a lot as well !
