Social sailing days run throughout the summer, usually starting on the last Saturday of April, then fortnightly until mid-September. The purpose of these days is both to encourage social sailing by those with no wish to get involved in Series racing, and to encourage those less confident or competent to broaden their experience and improve their skills. To this end, the club provides both safety boat cover and access to the galley (for DIY food preparation) between 10h00 and 16h00 on these days. We also ensure that there is a 'Beachmaster' on duty who will keep an eye on proceedings and offer advice, guidance and assistance where sought.
Improvers sessions From May through to mid-September we run 'Improvers Sessions'. The sessions are held on Tuesday evenings 18h00, finishing when it gets dark. The purpose of these is to encourage newly-qualified sailors to get out on the water, knowing that there is a safety boat on hand and experienced sailors available for advice and guidance. For all the latest news about the Improvers group and how to join, go to the HSC Facebook Improvers Group website. To all Improvers, social sailors and juniors. On Wednesday 17th April at 19.00 we will be holding a Rough Guide to Racing session in the clubhouse. This is one week ahead of our Bronze fleet series starting. As long as you can sail a simple triangle you are capable of joining in with this series. Our intention, a week on Wednesday, is to explain the Bronze fleet series, how the starting system works, how the courses are set and a few basic right-of-way rules. Please come along and see how simple it is to join in. Keep an eye on the Web Calendar for exact dates. |
