The new RYA Portsmouth Yardstick list is here — and with it comes the foundation of fair, competitive mixed-fleet racing for the season ahead. A quick reminder of why the PY system matters: The Portsmouth Yardstick allows different classes to race head-to-head by converting elapsed times into corrected times. The national numbers are built from real race data submitted by clubs across the country, creating a benchmark that keeps club racing fair, relevant and competitive. It is recognised that high-performance two-handed boats with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers cannot always sail to their potential on HSC lake so those boats have an adjusted club PY which is published in our racing documents.
