It has been pointed out to us by our Governing Body that, under the latest C-19 containment regulations, non-public facilities should close. This view is supported by guidance from Sport England. We had really hoped to avoid this but, after much soul-searching and with reluctance, we must abide by the spirit as well as the letter of the law.
With deep regret we are obliged, with immediate effect, to revert to the situation that existed during the November lockdown and close the lake and grounds to everybody – walkers, anglers and sailors alike.
We apologise for the confusion, but the matter is not of our making and, again, we find ourselves asking for your understanding and compliance.
HSC Board of Directors
Haversham Sailing Club will be following the advice issued by the Government and the RYA. We will be conservative and considerate in our activities and we hope this will keep everyone safe and well, but allow us all to appreciate a gradual return to normality when we can. In line with the previous re-opening of activities at the club we have been able to re-open for walking, fishing and certain on the water activities, that is until the Government change the rules again. Until further notice:
SUSPENDED – *access to the clubhouse, all social occasions, all club events, all training sessions, all access to club containers and flamvaults unless pre-booked.
CANCELLED – all public events.
SOCIAL DISTANCING – is still the primary defence against the virus – maintain 2m social distance or 1m with mitigation even from your friends. BUT – you must take into consideration the latest government advice regarding group sizes and social bubbles.
Everyone has a key and a code – do get out there and enjoy time on or by the water if you can. You must be responsible for your own safety as we only have a limited number of members who are able to commit to Safety Boat Duty. Please use Facebook or the Club's WhatsApp group to find out when other members are sailing so that you are not sailing alone.
PLEASE – contact the Membership Secretary if you are not receiving your copy of Flotsam and Jetsam as this is our preferred method of issuing updates. Do NOT use the changing rooms, they are not being cleaned. Keep gates locked at all times when only a few people on site, use the sanitiser spray if you open the padlocks.
MINIMISE SOCIAL CONTACT – PERSONAL DISTANCING, MINIMISE SOCIAL CONTACT, DO NOT PUT THE NHS AT RISK.
